Carbol Fuchsin - Ziehl Neelsen Acid Fast Stain
Basic fuchsin phenol solution stains mycobacteria, Nocardia, and Cryptosporidium through lipid rich cell walls.

Carbol Fuchsin - TB Diagnosis Applications

Ziehl-Neelsen protocol: 60°C 5min staining ? acid-alcohol decolorization ? methylene blue counterstain reveals red acid-fast bacilli.

Microbiology labs confirm M. tuberculosis (1:60 Kinyoun modification) distinguishing from Nocardia (partially acid-fast).

0.3% basic fuchsin penetrates mycolic acids binding irreversibly preventing decolorization by 3% HCl-ethanol.

Histology stains Helicobacter pylori (toluidine blue carbol fuchsin) in gastric biopsies.
