Eosin Methylene Blue Agar 10 Pcs Stack

Eosin Methylene Blue (EMB) Agar

Selective and differential medium for Gram negative enteric bacilli. Inhibits Gram positives. Lactose fermenters produce dark purple colonies with metallic sheen (E. coli). Non fermenters colorless/transparent. Excellent coliform screening from clinical/environmental samples.

Rapid enteric pathogen screening.

SIZES:

EMB Agar - Enteric Pathogen Specialist

Eosin Methylene Blue Agar selective components (eosin, methylene blue, bile salts) inhibit Gram-positive organisms while dyes precipitate in lactose-fermenting colonies producing characteristic dark purple colonies with metallic green sheen (E. coli). Non-lactose fermenters appear colorless/transparent facilitating rapid coliform screening.

Enteric Isolation Applications

Primary screening for E. coli and coliforms from water, food, clinical specimens. Detection of Salmonella/Shigella (colorless colonies). Environmental monitoring and food safety testing. Rapid preliminary identification reducing confirmatory testing requirements.

Performance Characteristics

19mm x 15mm x 20ml plates (Cat. 0802500E), 10 pcs/stack. SFDA standards, ISO 13485 facilities. Clear fermentation differentiation, selective Gram-negative support, stable indicator system.

Laboratory Protocol

Primary streak isolation, 35-37°C aerobic 24h. Metallic sheen = E. coli confirmation. Colorless = non-fermenter workup.
