Nutrient Agar - General Purpose Microbiology Standard
Nutrient Agar represents the classic general-purpose medium containing peptone, beef extract, sodium chloride, and agar supporting growth of non-fastidious bacteria. This simple formulation provides essential amino acids, vitamins, carbohydrates, and salts without selective components, making it ideal for routine cultivation, maintenance, and enumeration.
Universal Laboratory Applications
1.
Routine Culture: Isolation and purification from environmental samples (water, air, surfaces).
2.
Purity Verification: Confirmation of pure cultures prior to biochemical/serological testing.
3.
Teaching Medium: Safe, non-selective demonstration of bacterial growth characteristics.
4.
Enumeration: Standard method spread plate technique for viable counts.
Performance Excellence
19mm x 15mm x 20ml plates (Cat. 0801200E), 10 pcs/stack. SFDA standards, ISO 13485 facilities. Final pH 7.4±0.2 ensures broad organism compatibility.
Composition: Peptone 5g/L, beef extract 3g/L, NaCl 5g/L, agar 15g/L.
Standard Protocol
Surface streaking or spread plate inoculation. Aerobic incubation 35°C, 24-48h. Examine colony morphology, pigmentation, size. Can be enriched with blood/serum for fastidious organisms.
